July 2010 - Trip to the East Coast
Ride Day 13 - 13 Jul Quint Distance: 5.0 miles Quint Total: 249 miles
Bad weather and a desire to get the bike fixed led us to cancel our planned ride from Clinton to Jersey City. Once in the city, we did
ride to Liberty Park, just to take a look...
Ride Day 14 - 14 Jul Quint Distance: 5.0 miles Quint Total: 254 miles
The next morning was supposed to be our ride into the city, but bad weather forced a change again. We rode over to Liberty Park
again, and took the ferry to Ellis Island and to the Statue of Liberty. The bike was not allowed on the ferry, but we had a great time. It
rained HARD on us while we were at the statue, but a little photoshop, and blue skies everywhere...
Ride Day 15 - 15 Jul Quint Distance: 25.0 miles Quint Total: 279 miles
Finally, we made it into the city. We broke the bike in half, to make it easier to load on the ferry, then got yelled at by the deckhand
for braking it in half. Ah, New York!!! It was a perfect day, and traffic was not bad at all (if you are on a bike). We got to see a lot of
the city, including the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, Broadway, Times Square,
Radio City Music Hall, the Rockefeller Center, Central Park, the Museum of Natural History (barely), the USS Intrepid, and Ground
Zero (not to mention all the interesting stuff you just come across in New York). That night we made our way back into the city to
catch a Broadway show (The Addams Family), which was great - the girls were very excited.
